Do you have an emotionally intense child?

One who feels deeply, reacts explosively and for whom nothing seems to work?

  • Are emotions often going out of control in your house?
  • Does your child explode out of nowhere?
  • Are you afraid of transitions and walking on eggshells?
  • Do you struggle to connect with your child through all of those conflicts?
  • Do you want to stay calm BUT JUST CAN'T as you get triggered and overwhelmed?

If that sound familiar, you probably have an emotionally intense child.

But wait, what's an emotionally intense child?

An emotionally intense child feels deeply and reacts more intensely then most kids the same age to many kind of situation.

They can also be unpredictable in the way that they sometimes collaborate perfectly in a setting and absolutely not the next time in the same setting.

The most important thing to remember is that they don't do it on purpose, they are not able to do otherwise on their own and need support.

They all have their particularities but I see them as 3 different types:

  • Lion
  • Hedgehog
  • Sloth

The Lion

The lion child is always on the move, loud most of the time, really curious and inquisitive and don’t really care about social expectations or is just not able to control themselves to behave in that expected way, no matter how often you repeat yourself or how hard they try.

It's a child who's externalized in their reactions everywhere and acts out at home as much as everywhere else.

You might get daily call from school, they probably have some service in school settings and you're most likely judged for not being able to control them.

The Hedgehog

The hedgehog child looks very sweet, calm and in control out of the house but will explode once at home and with people they are closer and more comfortable with. They are generally really sensitive and creative. They might be more whinny and cry more then the Lion, but can also be very intense in their reactions.

It's a child that is internalized in their reactions out of the house, but externalized at home so others don't see it and most of the time don't understand what you mean and don't trust you when you're sharing your experience, you're probably judged (and might judge yourself) like you are the problem since it's all happening in your house/with you.

For that reason they probably don't get access to any support in school settings even if they could benefit from some.

The Sloth

The Sloth is a child who's sweet, calm, looks in control, is often alone, helpful to adults, don't talk loudly or run around and is generally really careful. They are really reserved and might be seen as slow, lazy or shy. When they react it's more in subtle whining or crying, you might tel them to speak up often.

It's a child who's Internalized in their reactions everywhere, which means they often go under the radar even for parents, so I'm not even really expecting their parents to read this 😉, so if you are, congrats for being so in tune.

Even if they don't look like it, they are still struggling inside and things might get harder as they grow older and there's more demand and more stress in their life.

Does any of that resonate? Then you're at the right place.

Calming the Intensity was designed for YOU!

Does your life look a little like this...

Every day feels like a battle, trying to understand your child's intense feelings while also managing your own.

You're constantly second-guessing yourself, feeling overwhelmed, and wondering if you're doing enough to help your child thrive. The lack of effective strategies to guide your child through their emotional storms leaves you feeling lost and inadequate.

Feeling isolated and judged in your parenting only adds to the weight on your shoulders. You're trying to get people to understand but it feels like nobody does!

Your once peaceful household now feels like a battleground, with tension and conflicts taking center stage.

Your desire to create a safe and nurturing space for your child clashes with the chaos brought on by their emotional outbursts and your own intense reactions to them that you can't seam to control.

The lack of effective strategies not only increase your child's intense reactions but you feel like it's also slowly destroying your relationship with them

Finding a way to break free from this cycle and foster peaceful family connections seems like an insurmountable challenge.

What if instead you could...

  • finally understand the emotions and behaviors of your emotionally intense child with clarity and compassion.
  • respond to their outburst with patience and empathy, guiding your child to a calmer state
  • no longer feel lost or overwhelmed
  • have a relationship, filled with trust, empathy, and understanding

Navigating the complex world of parenting emotionally intense children can be both challenging and rewarding.

The journey to understanding your child's emotions and behaviors better, strengthening your relationship with them, and fostering a harmonious home environment requires knowledge, support, and effective strategies.

This course is designed to empower parents, boost confidence, and provide a nurturing space to learn and grow alongside your child.

By investing in this course, you are not only investing in your child's well-being but also in your own journey towards becoming a more competent and understanding parent.

Because you are the only real expert of your child!

“Last spring you were my lifeline. You understood me, you listened to me, you gave me pointers. I'm so glad I got you during the storm.
Thank you by the way, I can't tell you enough.”

Who's offering this?

Hi, I'm Anouk Brière-Godbout!

I mentor and support parents of "emotionally intense kids" for whom nothing in the “general parenting advice” seems to work.

Together, we'll uncover what’s going on with your child and find solutions and ideas that work for YOU and YOUR kid(s) so things go more smoothly, you can quit feeling like you are failing at parenting in constant fear of the next outburst and feel confident in trying different things that fit your kids' needs better.

I have a Master's degree in Social Work,

I've been supporting parents for more than 15 years and I've been a mom for just as long.

As a mentor, I now have the chance to work with you, parents of emotionally intense kids, those who are great, sweet, intelligent, curious kids (most of the time) but who also feel everything deeply and react explosively

Hope you join me and other parents so we can break the stigma of being "that parent" and feel more peace and calm in our everyday family life.

"I had a one hour private session with Anouk and it was fantastic!

Anouk has a great mixture of being approachable, down-to-earth and professional. She is very intuitive and knowledgeable and had great practical tips for me to tackle the challenges I am experiencing with my 2 children.

I would highly recommend a session with Anouk. She had insight which I had not ever even contemplated myself.

Thanks so much Anouk!"

Is this course right for me if I have a toddler, tween, teen, etc

This program is specifically designed for parents of preschooler to teens. Most toddlers will have intense reactions that are normal in their development.

When it continues passed 3-5 years old we then consider that there might be a need for different kind of support.

What are the specific modules included in the Calming the Intensity video course?

The modules are:

  1. 3 types of emotionally intense kids: understand what really is an emotionally intense kid and how the 3 types are showing up and how they are experiencing things inside.
  2. Calming kids down - Regulation: understand what regulation is and how it can help kids calm down, identify triggers and learn the pivot to do in your parenting to avoid escalating
  3. Calming kids down - Discipline and boundaries: Learn how to reframe how to apply disciplines and consequences with emotionally intense kids and prioritize the boundaries that they need.
  4. Staying calm when our kids are not: Last but most important module, learn that YOU as the parent are the best ally for your child to calm down and how actually be able to calm yourself will benefit them immensely!
  5. Bonus: why is your child so intense: understand the importance of getting to the root cause of your child intensity and how to start investigate that.

Can you provide more details about the transcript workbook and private podcast version included in the course?

Sure! The entire content of the videos is transcribed in a readable way in a workbook with the actions to take with space to right down the answers or your reflections so that you can read if it's your preference or just revisit after listening or looking at the videos.

The private podcast is just like a podcast but only for the parents who buy the Calming the Intensity course. You'll have a special access and it will be added directly to your favorite podcast app.

The videos are also captions (by auto generated captions) so that you can also follow the videos without the sound if needed.

How long does each module of the course typically take to complete?

They are between 8 and 20 minutes each. So you don't have to sit for hours.

You'll then have some reflection and observation to do, most are doable in your everyday life, no need to be sited at your desk for that.

How will I access the course materials after purchasing?

  • You will get an email with an access to a course platform, once you're logged in you'll have access to all the videos, workbook and bonuses.
  • You can download the workbook or use the fillable Google Doc version
  • You will also receive a separate email for your access to the private podcast, make sure to check your spam, it has a tendency to hide there. But if you can't find it don't worry, you'll also get a way to access it in you welcome email and in the course platform.

Are there any interactive elements or opportunities for discussion with other parents in the course?

The course itself is self paces and you do it by yourself. But you'll have access to my provate Facebook community where you can ask questions, share your progress and get support from me ans other parents going through that course or another course of mine. What all the parents have in commun is that they have emotionally intense kids.

Why would I trust you with that stuff?

Great question!

  • I've been supporting parents since 2008
  • I have a master in social work and I worked with parents of kids with all kinds of special needs in a pediatric hospital and readaptation center
  • I'm also the mom of 3 emotionally intense kids, including 2 who are now older teens.
  • And I'm always learning and taking continuous professional eduction and learning from other people in the filed, including the guest of my podcast.

Is the program based on scientific data?

The program as it is has not been studied scientifically because I've just developed it. However, it's based on scientific data drawn from the systemic approach, the theory of empowerment, therapeutic photography and the narrative approach, as the main intervention approaches which have all been studied in recognized universities and still are, and which are used in the field in social work in particular but also in other disciplines.

Will the strategies taught in the course be applicable to my unique parenting situation?

One of the main goal of everything I do is to create course, program and individual support that can be tailored to YOUR specific family and kids needs. I'm not giving prescription and telling you that you need to do that or this specific strategy and if it's not working you are the one in the wrong.

No.

I want you to take what works for you and leave what doesn't and adapt everything to your specific family's reality. and if you need help doing so, please feel free to reach out.

Are there any additional resources or support available to me after completing the course?

Many!

This course is the foundation of everything I do, so most of my other courses are related to that one in some way. I will even be talking about a few of them throughout the course so that you know where to go to take the next step.

To get an idea of all the other resources I offer you can check that page.

What is the refund policy in case the course does not meet my expectations?

You get direct access to everything as soon as you register. So it's not possible to reimburse the course. That being said if it's not what you were expecting, please reach out so we can find an arrengement.

I have other questions...

I will be happy to answer them. I'm always the one who reads everything but still has questions, so I completely understand. You can email me at info(@)momentsfamille.ca
